A grand jury has released a 67 page report citing that the John Wayne Airport can do more to boost the county’s economy. Constraints put on the airport, which limit the amount of noise and pollution in the area, limit the economic impact the airport can have. The report suggests that expanding operations and lifting some of the restrictions will help to create a more robust economy for the area. However, opponents of the report, say that fewer restrictions may mean the devaluing of homes and property values in the area. The Orange County Board of Supervisors typically has 90 days to agree or disagree with the grand jury’s recommendations.
